Run For Pinoy Glory: Moved to December 1, 2012

(Note: This race has been moved from October 20, 2012 to December 1, 2012)

I miss running along Bayani Road in Taguig where this was part of the route of many races two or three years ago. The road construction near its corner, along Lawton Avenue halted its use and since then, races were diverted to other routes inside the Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

There were times when i hated this part, specially the uphill stretch leading to the Heritage Park and it was on this uphill where i would sometimes struggle and just walk about until it rolled downhill again.

Nothing scenic here but this popular road at the BGC brings back good old memories for those who have ran races during its hey day.

Runners would be able to run here once more at the Run For Pinoy Glory 10k and 16k distances, starting at the Venice Plaza, McKinley Hill on December 1, 2012. It’s a run for cause which would help pool resources for our disabled athletes in local as well as international competitions.

PRESS RELEASE:

Summit Run for Pinoy Glory aims to harness the bayanihan spirit to help Filipino athletes attain glory in the London 2012 Parlympic Games. More than just raising funds, we want to boost the morale of the athletes by generating enough participating runners to publicly demonstrate the country’s overwhelming support for the Philippine National Paralympic Team.

Winning a gold medal in the Paralympic Games is the pinnacle of success for most athletes, but for the Filipino athletes it remains a dream. Although there is support from government and the private sector, the Filipino hopefuls are in need of support from our Kababayans. This is the backdrop of Summit Water Run for Pinoy Glory, a gift to our Filipino Paralympic athletes competing in the London 2012 Games. This event will be on December 1, 2012 at 5:00 am at the Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill, Taguig City.

The run allows people from all walks of life – athletes and non-athletes, able-bodied and differently-abled – to support the country’s sports figures who inspire and bring glory to the nation. A unique feature of the run is a special category for participants in wheelchairs, which highlights the Paralympic aspect of the Games.
