They will be lined-up in their thousands at the finish line in Bonifacio Global City waiting for the runners cross the line, hoping that their kind are still fresh and intact and that they will be brought home and served as fried, sunny side up, omelette or boiled…
Unlike anywhere else in the racing community, EGGS will be the main dish of the EGG Power Run Half-Marathon to be held on January 11, 2015 at the Bonifacio Global City. They are being promoted by the Philippine Egg Board Association as a source of high nutrients like protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals! And who would have thought of that?
The race challenge goes that every runner will be given a raw egg at the starting line and must secure the egg from breaking while running their distances. Upon reaching the Finish Line, all runners with whole egg intact will get more eggs to take home.
Runners who are sleek enough to keep their eggs intact will be blessed with good fortune. An additional 3 eggs will be awarded for 3km finishers, 6 eggs for 5km, 9 eggs for 10km, and a dozen eggs for the half marathon finishers will be given. Runners who opt not to bring their eggs to the Finish Line may leave the eggs at the nearest water stations. No whole egg at the finish line, no additional eggs will be given.
On the other hand, if you accidentally crushed the egg while running along the route, (1) you must replace the egg by buying one at the counters and this will be added to the prize. And if you drop and break it while crossing the finish line, (2) you will be reprimanded and ordered to separate the yolks of ten fresh eggs from their whites!
Just kidding, i just made up the (1) and (2) parts!
The fact is— finishers medals will be given to 10km and 21km Finishers, while finisher shirts will be given to all 21km finishers.
Here are the details of the race. Hope you like your eggs sunny-side up!
