Mt. Sembrano Trail Challenge 2017: March 12, 2017

It’s not an easy trail route, but those who have experienced traversing uphill trails whether you’re a newbie or a veteran trail runner, would find running, hiking or just trying to survive to get to the top of Mt. Sembrano the harsh yet thrilling experience of conquering it on limited time.

Running this race for the very first time two years ago, i kind of wondered how i was able to wrestle the unlimited uphills, specially the first 5 kilometers of continuous climbing on gnarly rocky trails. Still, i think this was one of the best trail races for 2015 (didn’t join last year because of severe acid reflux) even with the negligible blips of getting lost and suffering from cramps that made this race even more exciting.

The Mt. Sembrano Mountain Run is going to be back this coming March 12, 2017 with some new trail routes being added. This is a no frills, all thrills race but has the unique stamp of an MGM event, organizers of this race. It has full of support, unique swags, fabulous finisher’s shirt, food and an after event gathering of pure trail enthusiasts hobnobbing with first time trail runners wanting to catch on the frenzy of their newfound sport.

This mountain run is not for people who are looking to set a fast pace but I would recommend it to those looking to deviate from road events and challenge themselves with a difficult but doable trail run, specially the newbie trail runner.

Getting to the top of Mt. Sembrano and reaching the finish-line will give you a sense of great euphoria and that’s definitely the case here, as this was one of the most grueling yet rewarding trail races I’ve done.

If you haven’s registered yet, you have a little more than a week to register (deadline on February 17) and can close even earlier if slots have all been filled up.
