Lagalag Sundown Ecotrail Run: April 8, 2017

LAGALAG SUNDOWN ECOTRAIL RUN 2017

Date:       April 8, 2017
Venue:    Timberland Heights, San Mateo, Rizal
Start Time:   3:00pm

Lagalag’s inaugural Sundown Trail Run held last year didn’t create much stir as it may have registered below the regular trail runner’s radar but for the 300+ runners who were able to join the 3:00pm gun start, it was one of the best organized trail races with the cushy, well-maintained trails and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains that got our attention at Timberland Heights in San Mateo, Rizal.

Even though the weather was warm and humid, the race volunteers, course markings, bike marshals and the over-all race organization will be very hard to beat. The trails have nice single tracks, fire roads, lush forest, streams and non-stop views of the Sierra mountain range. This is one of those splendid races where you should really be taking in the scenic views but will probably be too busy trying not to wipe off the sweat in your face because of the warm weather.

For those of you who have not experience running at the Timberland trails, here’s your chance to do so.  The Lagalag Sundown Eco-Trail Run 2017 is happening on April 8. It will offer a 6km, 12km and a new 25km trail run (in lieu of the half marathon distance last year) which will start at 3:00pm.

We shall be updating you for more race details on this blog as soon as they come along.

  1. Not really that organize. No medic station along the trail. First water station is after 4.5km, given the time of race and the season, rehydration had become a problem. There were arrows along the trail to direct you where to go but it could’ve been better to see your race category (i.e. 6k, 12k, 25k) markers. Also distance markers could help motivate the runners. The timer band was a hassle as well. The people assigned there were just slow. And the list was arranged by first name, this is the first time. Could’ve arrange by last name especially if a family registered, then easier for them to find the names.
