PRESS RELEASE:

X-Trail Run Pilipinas 2017: Run the Path of Most Resistance

Committed to push the boundaries of outdoor experience, Salomon, the world’s leading trail running brand, gears up for the return of the highly-anticipated Salomon X-Trail Run this July 23, 2017 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. An annual event organized throughout Southeast Asia since 2008 – in countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines – the Salomon X-Trail Run instantly gained traction for its exceptional and technical trail routes that never cease to offer runners an unforgettable and fulfilling trail experience each time.

Locally, the Salomon X-Trail Run has been held in various premier venues throughout the Philippines; quickly gaining a reputation for being the most-attended trail running event in local trail running history as it managed to gather over 1,000 participants. For its 6th year, the Salomon X-Trail Run endeavors to deliver another exceptional trail running race that will empower its participants to push the boundaries of
their capabilities.

Aiming to resonate with the brand’s core purpose of inspiring people to play and progress in their chosen outdoor pursuits, this year’s Salomon X-Trail Run is sure to pack a lot of enjoyable yet exhilaratingobstacles ahead. Eyeing at least 1,000 participants, this year’s Salomon X-Trail Run will consist of two race categories, namely, Fun Trail category with 6km and 12km distances and the more technical “Mountain Run” with 24km and 32km distances.

Serving as the ultimate test for the most dedicated trail runners, the Mountain Run at this year’s race will once again simulate the challenging ascents of Skyrunning races – an arena dominated by Salomon. The race starts at 8:00am and 8:30am for its 32km and the 24km categories, respectively, the Mountain Run will witness the country’s top trail runners go head to head in this iconic race.

Positioned as the most challenging category of the race, and created especially for trail runners who want to take their skills to the next level, the 24km and 32km Mountain Run will feature technical ascents and varying terrain. From asphalt, sand, and rocks to river crossing and steep technical ascents, the route for this category is expected to yield an adrenaline-filled adventure for the racers.

The Mountain Run participants will receive a Race Kit which will include a race bib, a timing chip, a Salomon X-Trail technical jersey, a Salomon Race Cap, and Post-Race meal and products from sponsors. Only those who finish within the cut-off time of 5 hours for the 24km, and 7 hours for the 32km, will receive a Finisher’s medal for this category.

Given the demanding nature of these distances, participants of the 32km and 24KM Mountain Run must adhere to the prescribed mandatory gear which includes, a whistle, a hydration pack/belt, with at least 500mL of water. Those with incomplete mandatory gear will not be allowed to participate in the race.

Emergency numbers will also be announced on the race day, for those who will bring their cellphones. This is, however not mandatory.

Designed to accommodate road runners with zero to basic experience in trail running, the Fun Trail race has proven to be an extremely worthwhile experience. Through this category, Salomon aspires to encourage road runners to get out of their comfort zones and head straight into the world of trail running. Meant for runners who wish to experience a different kind of rush, the 6km Fun Trail category is a great
introduction to trail running.

The estimated gun start for the Fun Trail race is at 1:30pm.

Throughout the event, there will be specific areas and control points located in varying locations within the course to ensure that the participants finish the race within the official time. Moreover, the Salomon XTrail Run will be a Green Race. A pioneer advocacy championed by the Salomon X-Trail Run since its first series back in 2010, Salomon’s Green Race Movement will not permit the use of disposables during
the event. Participants are then required to bring their own water bottles.

Heroes For Children Run 2016: September 4, 2016 at MOA

When actress and children’s welfare advocate Anne Curtis started to join UNICEF way back 2009, she saw the very vast scope and challenges that this organization were facing like widespread malnutrition, violence against children, access to school and
basic necessities like water and sanitation.

Since then, she has given a lot of her time and helped financially to help raise awareness and funds so that UNICEF can continue doing what it does best for children — long-term, sustainable solutions that tackle children’s issues at the root causes.

To enable her to reach out and touch people from all walks of life to help children through UNICEF, she organized the Heroes for Children run to raise money for UNICEF’s First 1,000 days program. All the proceeds from this event go to lifesaving programs for children.

Now on its 2nd year, Ms. Curtis says that this run is to empower these impoverished children to have hope, healing, and know that they are being thought of and helped through fund raising programs.

(L-R) Coach Rio Dela Cruz, UNICEF Philippines Country Representative Lotta Sylwander and UNICEF Celebrity Advocate for Children Anne Curtis invite the public to join the Heroes for Children Run on September 4, 2016, Sunday, at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.

Anne Curtis runs for children to mark UNICEF’s 70th Anniversary (PRESS RELEASE)

10 August 2016, Manila, Philippines – UNICEF Celebrity Advocate for Children Anne Curtis calls on runners to join the second year of the Heroes for Children Run on September 4, 2016, Sunday, at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.

“I was deeply inspired by the support we received during last year’s run. From children with disabilities to serious runners, the public came together for a great cause. This year, I’m inviting everyone once again to be a hero for children. All proceeds will benefit UNICEF’s First 1,000 Days campaign for children’s health and nutrition needs,” says Curtis

“For 70 years, UNICEF has worked to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged, vulnerable, and excluded children around the world. Despite the many gains, the lives and futures of millions of children are still in jeopardy. In the Philippines, one out of three children under the age of five suffers from chronic malnutrition—the effects of which can be permanent, irreversible and even fatal after two years of age. UNICEF believes every child should have a fair chance at life,” UNICEF Philippines Country Representative Lotta Sylwander says.

The First 1,000 Days programme focuses on prenatal and early childhood interventions to prevent undernutrition, including quality care for mothers, proper nutrition and complementary feeding, and life-saving treatment for severe acute malnutrition. The effect of good health and nutrition lasts well into adulthood and is key ingredient in breaking the cycle of poverty.

Last year’s run saw more than 3,200 runners raise Php 3 million for the benefit of the First 1,000 Days programme. This year, the event aims to attract more runners to raise funds for the campaign.

“We are grateful for Anne’s dedication and significant contributions in raising awareness and funds for children in need. Anne’s power lies in her sincerity and genuine passion in everything she does. Through her support, we will continue to make a huge difference for children in need,” Sylwander adds.

Fans who want to support Anne but cannot physically run or be present on race day may donate on her personal SimplyGiving fundraising page at http://www.simplygiving.com/event/HeroesforChildrenRun2016.  Ms. Curtis was appointed as UNICEF Celebrity Advocate in November 2014.

Online registration is ongoing at www.runrio.com/HeroesforChildren until 19 August 2016. In-store registration is ongoing until 28 August 2016 at the following Chris Sports outlets: SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM City North Edsa, SM City BF Homes, Glorietta, Market! Market!, Robinsons Place Manila, and UP Town Center (from August 15 to 28). The run is one of many activities slated in 2016 as UNICEF commemorates its 70th year helping to build a better world for every child.

Run For Ur Future: August 28, 2016 at MOA (Manila Leg)

Saving and managing your finances now is a major part of building a better life for the future. You may not be able to implement it to the fullest extent right now, but you should know about it and you may be surprised by what it can do for you, and what you can accomplish, if you start now.

When we say “savings”, it is any money you put away for the future, a habit that we should get into while young! Building a culture of saving money while nourishing our careers will allow you to generate funds that will sustain you for the short term and up to your retirement age. Adequate savings gives you the power to withstand an unexpected expense, help you weather financial hardships such as sickness or unemployment, achieve a financial goal like home ownership, and provide funds for your golden years when you retire.

It is through this race that awareness has to be instilled through health and fitness in a sport like running. Race is for the benefit of World Vision and Tahanan ng Pagmamahal.

Child sponsorship ensures that the community will be able to provide children with the basics they need to help them grow up in a healthy environment and have a chance for a better, more sustainable future.

How Child Sponsorship Works

Child sponsorship is an exciting journey of transformation – for the child you’re helping and for you especially if you use all the tools available to help you bond with your sponsored child.

It works by linking a poor child to an individual/ group who is committed to give a regular gift of P600 a month per child or P7,200 a year. Your monthly pledge is pooled with those of other child sponsors in the Philippines and overseas. Pooling together resources/ donations enables World Vision to maximize the productivity of every peso.

When you decide to sponsor a child, you’ll meet the child that you’ll be sponsoring by receiving a welcome kit that includes your sponsored child’s photo and profile, along with ways to connect and be updated with your new sponsored child.

Sponsorship fosters sustainability. World Vision plans and works alongside community members to help build healthy communities for children.
