adobo Run After Dark 2011 is a fantasy-themed run for runners that starts at 7:00PM to kick off the Halloween-All Saints’-All Souls’ Day long weekend. After last year’s initial adobo Run After Dark, the organizers are ready to mount the 2nd edition with more pizzazz and surprises. It features a 3k costume run, 5k and a 15k race!
What To Expect :
An after-run party with live music, free flowing beer (yes, free booze), a sideline bazaar, spectacular performers (samba percussionists, poi dancers, fire breathers, carnival queens), fireworks display, dazzling lights show, and fantasy costumes.
- A New Race Course: The race will start at the newly developed Aseana City (Business Park) located along Macapagal Avenue, near MOA and will almost be traffic-free, the race course all to ourselves. The 3k and 5k distances will run mostly inside Aseana City while the 15k runners will traverse the 5k loop 3x.
- A Good Time: Some of the 5,000 runners will don costumes, all will enjoy the shopping in a sideline bazaar and eat their favorite barbecue treats with their overflowing booze. The adobo Run is as much a party as it is an organized race.
- The Running Paparazzi: Many who’s who in running; celebrity runners, marathoners, ultra-runners, running clubs, running groups, bloggers, triathletes, product endorsers, fun runners, Facebook habitués and the usual Forum complainants will be there and rub elbows with each other to eat, drink, party and…run!
If you hope to be a participant in the adobo Run After Dark Race, make sure to register well in advance as the race will be limited to just 5,000 runners to ensure a well-managed and secure race. Bandits will be stopped on their tracks by roving marshals. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you!
Booze Warning: While some of the hydration stations along the course might be offering cups of beer, we recommend holding off on the booze until after the race if you hope to run straight and record a good time. And don’t forget, drink moderately!:-)
Loot Bags: After crossing the finish line, make sure to immediately head directly to the loot bag tents and get your freebie bag. Only one loot bag for each runner.
Arrive Early: While assembly time starts at 7:00pm and the 15k race starts an hour later, it is advised that you come earlier to familiarize yourself with the venue and be able to leave your bags at the baggage counters. Parking will be more than adequate. The designated parking area for the event is at the corner of Bradco Ave and Macapagal Blvd, right across DFA. Also, nearby is the MOA parking lots. The organizers will deploy non-uniformed security personnel to beef up safety in those areas. No parking will be allowed along the road as it will be towed by the MMDA right away. We also hope you come and visit the Porta Potties! Do not urinate, defecate or romance on the sea walls!
I am leaving you with some more details on the adobo Run After Dark race.
