The Color Manila Run: Soon!

Color Manila Run 2013 Logo

If there is a running event that truly defines a “FUN RUN”, then this should be it! This 1.5k, 3k and 5k event is a run where you are doused with powdered color dust made with flour and other food coloring ingredients along the route that transforms you into a running art piece! Runners will get their white shirts  showered with rainbow colors (like an Indonesian batik shirt) on different parts of the race route down to the finish line.

The Color Manila Run is going to be held at the Bonifacio Global City on January 6, 2013. It is the first race so far in the local calendar of running events for 2013.

It’s a truly unique run, something you can do with the whole family and i would say that this is the “play” part of running. I was fortunate enough to attend the launching of the Color Manila Run a few days ago at the F1 Hotel at BGC and we were given the heads up on what this color run was all about.

OMAHA!!! #thecolorrun

After the run, it will be ill-advised for you to  search for the Color Manila Race Results at Pinoy Fitness or other running websites because this run is not about setting any personal records or achieving a fast time but is more for having great fun, party run!

Bunch of terrible guys!

The colored ingredients are actually flour and other food colorings which were mixed, baked then grinded into powder (see middle jar) and is edible that it can be made into powdered cookies (more like hardened pulvuron). It’s safe and easy on the eyes.

AKTV Run: June 5, 2011

All eyes were on good friend, Michelle Estuar when she entered the doors of the National Sports Grill last night at Greenbelt 3 (with boyfriend in tow) to promote the AKTV Live Active Run to be held on June 5, 2011 at Mall of Asia. Days ago, i was pleasantly surprised when she graced the sports covers of some broadsheets and tabloids  featuring her as “poster girl”  in the ads of this run and she looked stunning in her red running attire. Last night, she looked slimmer than usual as she is in the midst of heavy training for her upcoming marathons and ultra-runs.

Michelle, who started running just 2 1/2 years ago has been in the limelight for sometime and has earned some impressive credentials by placing amongst the top 3 of races she enters. Her notable achievements include winning the Corregidor International Half-marathon and the 1st PAU 50k Ultra-run in both female categories.

The launching of the AKTV Run last night co-incided with the introduction of AKTV, the new primetime sports block that will become the home of sports and active lifestyle programs on IBC channel 13, part of the TV5 group.

The AKTV Run, organized by RunRio features a race in four categories: 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K. And due to public clamor, the 21k race will now start at 4:45am instead of 5:15am in order to avoid the scorching heat that has affected a number of runners during past long distance races.

Here’s some details of the race:

TV5 invites all active and sports-minded Filipinos to participate in the much-awaited AKTV Run this June 5 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City. The Kapatid network will introduce AKTV, the new primetime sports block that will become the home of sports and active lifestyle programs on IBC channel 13.

AKTV Run will give loyal Kapatid followers a preview of what to expect from AKTV, which caters to Filipinos sports enthusiasts, health buffs as well as people who enjoy an active lifestyle.

AKTV Run features a race in four categories: 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K. TV5 has partnered with RunRio, the country’s leading race organizer, in mounting the event. The early morning race program will be hosted by Manu Sandejas and Chiqui Roa, hosts of the TV5 Saturday sports profile show Astig.

Participants and their families can enjoy a fun fair after the race at the Mall of Asia grounds. There will be sports tents where people can watch and participate in demonstrations and instructional coaching for billiards, boxing, basketball and mixed-martial arts. There will be photo booths of various TV5 shows like Bagets, Iskul Bukol and Bangis. Kids can enjoy booths from Cartoon Network, Disney and Batibot. Food and Beverage booths will also be made available to everyone.
