7-Eleven Run 2017: February 5, 2017

This spectacular SKYWAY Course was formerly the domain of both 7-Eleven and the recently cancelled Condura Skyway Marathon but will now be used exclusively for the annual 7-Eleven Run to be held on February 5, 2017. So after the success of Run 800 in 2013, Run 1000 in 2014, Run 1500 in 2015 and Run 2016, this year’s run is expected be the biggest and most exciting of the series yet. The 5th running of this event (Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 16k, 10k, 10k Buddy, 5K, 3k and 500 meters kids run) will fill the Filinvest City area and the Skyway with over 10,000 runners!

THE 7-Eleven Run has steadily grown in numbers from a field of 2.000 runners in 2013 to a race that now fills to a capacity of more than 12,000 runners.  Over the years, the 7-Eleven Run has added additional distances (3k, 10k, 16k) and a 500 meter-sprint held in the spirit of fitness and fun for kids who want to run.  All of these distances are a component of 7-Eleven’s mission to expose people of all ages to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through running.

Top 3 per category will receive cash prizes and medals. Top 3 Filipino males and
females in the 21KM and 42KM categories will be sponsored by 7-Eleven to join an
international marathon in Asia. Top 3 organizations with the highest number of
registrants will also receive a special trophy.

More on Antique:

If you’re searching for quiet shores, then Antique is for you. Charter a boat from Culasi to take you to hook-shaped Malalison Island. Its sparkling waters hug a powdery white-sand shore. Snorkel in Batabat Coral Reef, and you’ll see a bunch of fish and aquatic animals.

Malalison Island

A local favorite is Malumpati Cold Spring, whose waters flow into the Bugang River. Get a cottage near the pool. This place is ideal for swimming and picnics.

Other good spots for diving and snorkeling in Antique include Batbatan Island off the coast of Culasi. This tropical island has natural caves and white-sand beaches. Maniquin Island, also called Hammerhead Island, is for divers. Then there’s uninhabited Nogas Island off the coast of Anini-y, which is a marine sanctuary with a beautiful stretch of frangipanis. Sira-an Hot Spring is a tiny sulfur pool overlooking the sea. The majestic white sand stretch of Seco Island is a sweet spot for kitesurfers.

Siraan Springs and Hot springs

Antique is also a place full of pristine falls. Go chase the seven-tiered Bugtong-Bato Falls in the wilderness of Brgy.Tuno, Tibiao. Its refreshing waters flow into a basin ideal for swimming. Hop into a kayak and paddle your way through the white water rapids of the Tibiao River. Enjoy swimming in the cold emerald basin of Pula Falls. In the town of Carawisan, you’ll find the towering Batwan Falls.

Scale up the peak of Igbaclag Cave, or take in a stunning view at the summit of Bato Cave in the town of La Union. Marvel at the lush mountains, green farmlands, and fields. Hike up Mt. Igtuog and catch a Rafflesia lobata in full bloom, if you’re lucky. The gigantic flower is endemic to the mountains of Antique and Iloilo, and is picky about blooming.

End the day by taking a hot bath in an enormous kawa. This vat was originally used by the locals for cooking brown sugar. But now it’s for your pleasure.
