Once again in unity we are called upon to help save a baby’s life name Stevie Arghie M. Garcia or popularly known as “Baby Tibay”, who was diagnosed by a rare and fatal disease called “Biliary Atresia”. A condition that only a “Liver Transplant Operation” can cure, which costs 4.5 million Php.
Baby Tibay’s Parents are just simple ordinary people who make enough just to raise a family and raising this kind of amount is a great burden for them. But, as any loving Parent would do, they will not give up and will fight and find ways to raise this kind of amount in order for their child to go on living and grow up to see the beauty what our God has given to us in this world.

So, on April 9, 2017, tell your family members, friends and neighbors to merge on this one meaningful event to help save a life of an angel called “Baby Tibay”. Let us all exploit this rare opportunity that was given to us to give life to a child.

Anawim Grace Run: A Short Race Recap

This is probably the “coolest” race that i have joined in. And i say it literally as the temperature last Sunday dipped down to about 15 degrees as we were warming up for the 5:30 a.m. start of the Anawim Grace 10K Run at Frontera Verde in Pasig.

The weather couldn’t have been better and the course itself was challenging, passing around Julia Vargas-Lanuza Avenues and the hilly St. Paul Street before heading back and it was a nice change of scenery from the usual week-end race venues in the metro.

A few minutes before the start

The course is almost flat until you reach the 2km mark when you venture up St. Paul Street, nothing a runner can’t handle. The race itself went by faster than I had expected. The turnaround for the 10k was about near the top of St. Paul and there was adequate water stations.

The route goes for two loops but i noticed the lead runners making an extra loop and this sowed confusion among other runners who were following their tails. Seems that an over-zealous lead marshal made them do another turn until other marshals realized the mistake and corrected the situation.

The roads is virtually void of vehicles and cyclists at those hours so it allows a perfect opportunity to take in that part of the city without all the extra traffic of people.

Going up St. Paul Street

Along Lanuza Avenue

The finish would have been exciting if not for the crowd of runners that blocked the finish line area. It also didn’t helped that the lady marshals who were giving out the medals were also in front of the finish line so you had to stop first a few meters before the finish arc to have the ladies award you the medals then continue walking to the finish.

Other than this minor hitch, i think the race organizers did a splendid job over-all, putting to good use the route which was an ideal race venue, more than enough courteous marshals, both on foot and on wheels who controlled traffic and cheered you along the way and the adequate water at the aid stations!

A big plus too was the food offered at the sponsors booth as we lined up for unlimited raisin/wheat bread, rice cereals and washing it down with Monster Energy Drinks.

A big shout-out to the Pinoy Aspiring Runners (PAR), for their grand debut in organizing this race and to Zalds Carlon Loreta for the opportunity in joining this run for a cause. A return engagement should be in the offing!

Anawim Grace Run For A Cause: January 26, 2014

The Frontera Verde-Julia Vargas-Lanuza Streets and the roads around Philsports Complex (Ultra Track Oval) have been my long run training grounds with my running team for sometime now. These are wide cemented or asphalt roads with hills galore that is best ran early in the morning during week-ends.

It’s rather seldom that fun runs or road races are held here but when there are, expect some very challenging hills and a homey village feel as you run outside of the various Valle Verde village residences.

If you’re looking forward to run in this area, the Anawim Grace Fun Run 2014 will hold a 10k/5k/3k race exactly in this area on January 26, 2014. This is going to be organized by the Pinoy Aspiring Runners (PAR) running team, a large group of runners who have one of the most encouraging and enthusiastic members around.

I have lots of friends from this group and the support, encouragement, friendly vibes and new friends you make is just amazing! Let’s all support their race as this is for a good cause!

Anawim Grace is a benefit run that is organized by Pinoy Aspiring Runners that will be held on January 26, 2014 at the Frontera Verde Grounds in Pasig.

ANAWIM Foundation is a center that serves as home to the sick and poor elderly located in Montalban, in the outskirts of Metro Manila. ANAWIM comes from the Hebrew word that means “the lost and forgotten ones.” It was founded in early 1990 by Brother Bo Sanchez, a lay Catholic preacher.

The Center occupies a 5 hectare property that contains 11 resident structures, a chapel, three concrete homes, a social hall/dining area, mini-clinic, recreation area, fish pond, and a cemetery. The Center cares for about 55-65 elderly people. It employs 40 salaried staff including health caregivers, a full-time nurse, and two assistant nurses. A volunteer doctor comes once a week.

ANAWIM has become a refuge for the poorest of the poor. “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
