AKTV Run: June 5, 2011

All eyes were on good friend, Michelle Estuar when she entered the doors of the National Sports Grill last night at Greenbelt 3 (with boyfriend in tow) to promote the AKTV Live Active Run to be held on June 5, 2011 at Mall of Asia. Days ago, i was pleasantly surprised when she graced the sports covers of some broadsheets and tabloids  featuring her as “poster girl”  in the ads of this run and she looked stunning in her red running attire. Last night, she looked slimmer than usual as she is in the midst of heavy training for her upcoming marathons and ultra-runs.

Michelle, who started running just 2 1/2 years ago has been in the limelight for sometime and has earned some impressive credentials by placing amongst the top 3 of races she enters. Her notable achievements include winning the Corregidor International Half-marathon and the 1st PAU 50k Ultra-run in both female categories.

The launching of the AKTV Run last night co-incided with the introduction of AKTV, the new primetime sports block that will become the home of sports and active lifestyle programs on IBC channel 13, part of the TV5 group.

The AKTV Run, organized by RunRio features a race in four categories: 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K. And due to public clamor, the 21k race will now start at 4:45am instead of 5:15am in order to avoid the scorching heat that has affected a number of runners during past long distance races.

Here’s some details of the race:

TV5 invites all active and sports-minded Filipinos to participate in the much-awaited AKTV Run this June 5 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City. The Kapatid network will introduce AKTV, the new primetime sports block that will become the home of sports and active lifestyle programs on IBC channel 13.

AKTV Run will give loyal Kapatid followers a preview of what to expect from AKTV, which caters to Filipinos sports enthusiasts, health buffs as well as people who enjoy an active lifestyle.

AKTV Run features a race in four categories: 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K. TV5 has partnered with RunRio, the country’s leading race organizer, in mounting the event. The early morning race program will be hosted by Manu Sandejas and Chiqui Roa, hosts of the TV5 Saturday sports profile show Astig.

Participants and their families can enjoy a fun fair after the race at the Mall of Asia grounds. There will be sports tents where people can watch and participate in demonstrations and instructional coaching for billiards, boxing, basketball and mixed-martial arts. There will be photo booths of various TV5 shows like Bagets, Iskul Bukol and Bangis. Kids can enjoy booths from Cartoon Network, Disney and Batibot. Coach Jim Saret’s Dare To Be Fit

It was one of the grandest Bloggers/Press launch i ever attended as Del Monte’s Fit ‘n Right launched its newest campaign, Dare to be Fit ‘N Right in Taste Asia Restaurant at the SM Mall of Asia. The launch featured noted sports scientist and coach Jim Saret who gave lectures on Fast Intense Training (FIT), a workout strategy that is touted as the most effective way to burn fat. The FIT workout was demonstrated by fast bursts of intensive exercise that enables one to burn at least 400 calories in a span of only four minutes.

Co-blogger and Takbo.ph runner Rodel ( argonaut ) was hand-picked by Coach Jim to be one of the demonstrators of the FIT workout and gamely showed his wares for all the audience to see first hand the four-minute workout that makes you burn at least 400 calories and continues to burn even when you’re done with the workout!

Coach Jim went further by saying that you don’t have to be a gym buff to enjoy the workout and doesn’t require much space and equipment. It’s scientific, very visual, designed for non-athletes, with measurable results and it’s easy!
