Perhaps NOT when you’re just running the 6k or the 10k distances.
The Double Trail Challenge Trail Race, another DBB-Be Trail Ready Event is a 6k, 10k, and a 25k trail race to be held this coming June 24 in Baranggay Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal. Be Trail Ready’s big appeal to trail runners is its stunning views, ever changing terrain, it’s social scene and its epic, “in your face” tough climbs. One doesn’t just accept the fact that this race goes from one “sea of clouds view” to another fool you into thinking we’re just floating in the sky because there will be those moments that you’ll be saying, “it’s-a-trap-why-did-i-ever-join-this race?”
But of course, there will be nothing that a newbie or a veteran trail runner can’t do but to roll with the punches, enjoy the camaraderie, savor the views and finish the race. The RD and his race officials will be greeting you at the finish line and you’ll be receiving your schwags. However, it won’t be that easy. The hills will always be steep. There will be regular stopping on the ascents to catch your breath, slipping and falling down on slippery slopes that will probably just hurt your ego, more than any physical injury that might occur. But as long as you remember to breathe, you’ll be ok!
We were able to run the 6k and the 10k courses one Sunday morning with trail buddies Jun Santiago and Franc Ramon which starts near the Baranggay Hall of Cuyambay in Tanay. The route took us to the small barrio of Tuuy with its green paths, dirt roads, dense forest, moss, ferns, mountain passes and meanders along a rocky river. It was all good until we reach Tungtong Falls which is probably the highlight for the 10k and 25k distances.
So will it be another of Be Trail Ready’s tough, challenging race? I would say that the 25k distance would be 25k of heaven and hell as it would have big climbs going to Mt. Paliparan. But what’s a trail race without steep climbs? As RD Dabobong has been heard to say, “Just get out there and experience life!”
