I was privileged to be invited to Nike Philippines’ first ever Nike only retail store launch dedicated to the athletic needs of Filipino children last Saturday, September 12, 2015. It’s a cute little NIKE Boutique for kids at the newly opened Ayala Park Triangle Building where you can purchase kids’ version of Nike apparel, from running or basketball shoes to Dri-fit shirts, shorts, caps and a lot more accessories, at kids sizes!
The Nike Prodigy Young Athletes retail store is not only a first in the country, but also a first in the whole of South East Asia.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was lead by PBA Players Mike Cortez and Larry Fonacier with their sons Mikey and Liam, Nike Country Manager Loulette Quinio with her grandson Viggo Herce and PBA Player and Gilas Pilipinas star Gabe Norwood’s sons Orion and Cash.
Gone are the days when parents would have to outsource athletic wear for their kids from other countries and kids settling for athletic apparel and footwear that is either too small or too big for them. As Nike Philippines Marketing and Product Specialist Andro Torres said “Exposing kids at a very young age to sports is critical for a child’s development. Not only do they develop their motor and physical skills, but they also get the values that come with sports.
With that said, Nike Prodigy Young Athletes will be a big help to parents and children in the Philippines since we all know the importance of getting the right athletic products is very vital in optimizing sports performance; especially in the developmental stages for kids.“
A great number of kids ages 13 and below arrived with their parents to be part of the grand launch of the Nike Prodigy Young Athletes flagship store. The festivities were kicked off by PBA Anchor Aaron Atayde along with Patricia Hizon, also a mom of two active boys highly involved in sports.
These kids were treated to a fun and activity filled afternoon. Participants were supplied with a special edition I Am the Future t-shirt care of Prodigy Young Athletes Store. These shirts were customized to be able to put the name of the participating child.
While wearing their limited edition tees, all kids were able to participate in a series of sports challenges to test their basketball, football and running abilities. Aside from their parents cheering them on, special guest coaches were there to help guide the kids and hone their skills.
UAAP Analyst and Ateneo Blue Eaglets Coach Marco Benitez lead the basketball skills challenge, for football, Simon McMenemy, Manager of the UFL team Loyola Meralco Sparks and for the running and fitness, triathlete and running enthusiast Hector Yuzon and Nike Training Club Trainer Katz Salao.
Aside from providing superior product innovation for sports, Nike also provides inspiration for the youth with athletes such as Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and others. Larry Fonacier echoed this saying, “My son Liam really looks up to the NBA players and tries to emulate their moves and swagger on the court.”
I really like this little store! Super artsy sporting clothing for kids. It’s exactly the type of store that represents NIKE well! All-around, creative sports attire and they also represent the NIKE brand ambassadors–totally a brand for all ages and abilities!
NIKE YOUNG ATHLETES STORES: THE FIRST AND ONLY NIKE YOUTH STORES IN THE PHILIPPINES
It can be very difficult for parents here to find Nike products for their children, oftentimes they would resort to finding ways of sourcing these from countries abroad. But now that is no longer the case as the Nike Young Athletes Stores, the first and only Nike Youth Stores in the Philippines and in the entire South East Asia region have just opened their doors.
Owned and operated by Nike Prodigy, an official retailer of Nike Philippines, these highly anticipated Nike Young Athletes stores are the first Nike stores specifically designed to cater to the athletic gear requirements of children aged 0-13 years old. A very unique Nike retail concept, these stores are 100% dedicated to the youth and only offer youth sizes – there are no adult sizes available here, and instead there are Infant/Toddler, Pre-School, and Grade School size ranges.
Nike Young Athletes Stores are also the only Nike stores that have the complete youth size product assortment for all major sports and athletic endeavors, making it the best place to get the most advanced Basketball, Running, Football, and Sports Lifestyle Footwear and Apparel especially developed for young athletes.
Sporty and active parents alike will be happy to see that their kids can now match them and wear their favorite Nike products alongside them, with the Air Jordan, Air Max, Roshe, Lebron, Kobe, and KD lines all being available in these stores in the complete youth size ranges.
Finally, the demand for a place where parents can get the complete range of the best sports gear for their children has been heard, the Nike Young Athletes stores have finally arrived.
There are currently 3 Nike Young Athletes stores and they are located at Ayala Fairview Terraces, Ayala Solenad in Nuvali Sta Rosa, and the newly opened flagship store at the Kidzania Park Triangle Building in Bonifacio Global City. Customers can follow their social media accounts on Facebook (Prodigy PH) and Instagram (@Prodigy_PH) to get instant updates on the latest products and promotions.
